The series has done impressivly well with alot of sales (over 3 million)under the catagory of "light" novels, einen(young men's) label Dengeki Bunko. Volume 1 was published in 10th november 2002. After the release of the first 9 volumes, volume 0 was published. Following that was the release of volumes 10- 12 which lead to Volume S, and recently volume 13 has been published.

Viz media has licensed the novels for english version in 2006, however release dates have yet to be confirmed.
